Lakota Wood

Mental Health Student

My name is Lakota Wood, I am a mental health student taking new clients. I am currently in my second year of the Master of Counselling Psychology program at the University of Alberta, and I am directly supervised by Dr. Terilyn Pott.

I have experience working with many diverse topics that include emotional regulation, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationships, as well as self-compassion and self-esteem. My previous experiences include working with young adults with anxiety, OCD, depression, and trauma who may be facing many diverse circumstances (e.g., work-related, school-related, family-related). I believe in working collaboratively with others to help them reach their goals and I strive to create a compassionate, supportive, and safe counselling environment for people in need. Currently, my approach to counselling is rooted within Acceptance and Commitment therapy, Cognitive Behavioural therapy, and Solution-Focused therapy.

I work in person on mondays, and provide virtual services Thursdays and Fridays.
